Otis to Lift Discussion on Elevator Technology at AIA

PHILADELPHIA - Otis, the world's largest manufacturer and maintainer of people-moving products, including elevators, escalators and moving walkways, will present an educational session about recent advances in elevator technology at the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Convention 2016. Otis is a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

Mary Ryan, senior manager, new equipment, Otis World Headquarters and Chiara Perry, product manager, new equipment, Otis North America, will co-present the session titled "Latest Innovations in Elevator Technology" on May 19. The AIA convention is one of the largest annual gatherings of architects and design professionals in the U.S., providing a first look at new materials and technologies.

This is the third year that Otis has sponsored and participated in AIA's continuing education sessions at the national convention. During the presentation, Ryan and Perry will discuss the industry's latest advances in elevator technology to heighten attendees' vertical transportation knowledge. The discussion will focus on intelligent building strategies, such as the evolution of destination dispatching, the future of the passenger experience and self-climbing elevators, which can be installed and used during construction, while examining how these technologies continue to impact building design in the areas of aesthetics, security, energy efficiency and building upgrades.

"Otis continues to be dedicated to persistently improving the experience of our customers and their passengers," Ryan said. "Elevators are one of a building's most critical assets and we are excited to discuss technological developments in the industry that help make buildings smarter and deliver outstanding performance by combining sustainability with innovation."

Throughout the three-day expo, Otis elevator experts will be available to discuss Otis' new equipment products and showcase some of the latest advances in elevator technology the company has to offer architects. Additionally, visitors to the Otis booth (#2125) will be able to examine scale models of the Gen2® and HydroFit™ elevator systems up close.

AIA Convention 2016 will be held May 19-21 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. Otis is a sponsor of the AIA Convention and AEC Cares project Philadelphia, a one-day community build project held in conjunction with AIA that brings together industry professionals in the convention host city.
