Agilent Technologies Now Offers Industry's Deepest-Memory Oscilloscopes

Unprecedented Memory Technology with New Options up to 128 Mpts Enables Capture of Complex Signals Previously Out of Reach

PALO ALTO, Calif., July 19, 2004 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today introduced new memory options for its Infiniium 54830 Series of digital storage and mixed-signal oscilloscopes, making them the deepest-memory oscilloscopes in the industry. The new options incorporate Agilent's patented MegaZoom deep-memory technology with depths up to 128 Mpts to enable fast waveform capture of complex signals, instant response and superior ease of use. The options enable advanced measurement performance previously out of reach, helping R&D engineers speed the development of new products within the computer, communications and defense industries.

"The addition of the deepest memory oscilloscopes in the industry further enhances Agilent's Infiniium family of mixed-signal and digital storage oscilloscopes," said Ron Nersesian, vice president of Agilent's Design Validation Unit. "The deep-memory technology extends Agilent's leadership in the 60 MHz to 1 GHz oscilloscope market by enabling measurements that are not possible with traditional oscilloscopes. Agilent is committed to providing our customers exceptional value and industry-leading performance. This new capability clearly reinforces Agilent as the performance leader."

The Agilent Infiniium 54830 Series oscilloscopes with bandwidths of 600 MHz and 1 GHz enable R&D engineers to easily capture complex waveforms at the oscilloscope's full sample rate for time spans in the tens of milliseconds. In addition, the 54830 Series oscilloscopes' new segmented memory acquisition mode allows engineers analyzing communications or radar signals bursting in nature to capture and store only the periods of activity. This means that acquisition memory is no longer needlessly consumed by periods of inactivity between bursts.

The user interface of the 54830 Series of Agilent's award-winning Infiniium oscilloscopes is based on the open Microsoft® Windows XP® Pro operating system. The interface optimizes the oscilloscope for advanced analysis and deep-memory acquisitions. The open interface combined with the My Infiniium integration package allows engineers to easily integrate additional software applications such as Agilent VEE Pro or MathWorks MATLAB®. This gives engineers custom functionality for operating and viewing the 128 Mpts of waveform data to suit their debug needs. In addition, engineers can install and run Agilent's vector signal analysis software in the Infiniium oscilloscope to provide powerful, flexible, wideband signal analysis on communication signals and modulated radar through the full 128 Mpts waveform capture.
