Agilent Technologies Introduces Industry's First 2.5 GHz Oscilloscope with Four Full-Bandwidth, 20 GSa/s Channels

Agilent's Expanded Oscilloscope Family Allows Designers the Flexibility to Buy Bandwidth to Match Application Needs for Validating High-Speed Designs

PALO ALTO, Calif., March 3, 2003 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced the Agilent 2.5 GHz oscilloscope, the first in the industry to provide four full-bandwidth, 20 GSa/s channels. Available for order today, the new oscilloscope allows design engineers in the computer, semiconductor and communications industries to validate new high-speed designs.

The Agilent 54853A 2.5 GHz oscilloscope rounds out Agilent's family of real-time, high-performance Infiniium 54850 oscilloscopes, a group of performance measurement systems that, with today's announcement, now offer designers the flexibility to choose an oscilloscope with bandwidths of 2.5 GHz, 4 GHz or 6 GHz to match their individual application needs.

The Agilent 54853A Infiniium 2.5 GHz oscilloscope can capture four, full-bandwidth, real-time single-ended and differential signals off a single trigger event. The system's MegaZoom deep memory increases the amount of information that users can capture from events leading up to, and after, the specified trigger event.

The Agilent InfiniiMax 1131A active probe delivers single-ended and differential measurements up to 3.5 GHz, and provides unmatched connectivity even in difficult-to-reach situations, such as probing between memory modules on server motherboards. The flexible architecture of the InfiniiMax 3.5 GHz, 5 GHz and 7 GHz probes enables users to make single-ended or differential measurements from a single probe amplifier, which results in significant savings in time and money.

The Infiniium 54850 series oscilloscopes are based on the Microsoft® Windows® XP Pro open operating system, and offer users the ability to run third-party Windows applications, including Excel, MATLAB®, Mathcad and Norton AntiVirus. By using the dual-monitor mode, users can perform extensive waveform analysis inside the oscilloscope and display the results on a high-resolution monitor without having to transfer the waveform data to an external computer. In addition, users can access and control Infiniium oscilloscopes from remote locations using the built-in Web software and 10/100BaseT LAN connections.

The Agilent 54853A Infiniium oscilloscope is available now for $35,995. The Agilent InfiniiMax 1131A active probes are currently available and range in price from $3,850 to $5,900.
