Oscillators suit remote sensing and control applications.

Press Release Summary:

With 5 x 3.2 mm footprint, Micro G-Series crystal stabilized clock oscillators develop user-specified 0.5-135 MHz output frequencies and are compatible with HCMOS logic families. Waveform symmetry is 45/55 or better, waveform rise/fall times at 135 MHz are 4 nanoseconds, and max jitter is 8 ps RMS. Frequency-stability grades are ±25, ±50, and ±100 ppm. Oscillators are based on hi-Q quartz crystals and offer tristate capability for automatic circuit-board and system testing.

Original Press Release:

Micro Oscillator Develops 0.5 - 135 MHz for Industrial Applications. Remote Sensing & Industrial Controls; Wireless/Datacom; Wearable/Hand-Held/Mobile Electronics

New Rochelle, NY, January 23, 2003-New micro G-Series crystal stabilized clock oscillators develop time and frequency reference signals for factory floor tools, instrumentation, controls and wireless PDAs. Examples include process controls, remote sensors, hands-free inventory monitoring, wireless warehouse parts picking, and telemetry. Tiny footprint (5 mm x 3.2 mm) permits unobtrusive equipment design; low power consumption extends battery life; low cost promotes wide usage.

Specifications

Surface mount Series-G clock oscillators develop user-specified 0.5 MHz to 135 MHz output frequency, and are compatible with HCMOS logic families. Waveform symmetry is 45/55 or better, waveform rise/fall times at 135 MHz are 4 nanoseconds, and maximum jitter is 8 ps RMS.

The new oscillators operate on 3.3V DC power, with 7 mA current draw at 10 MHz, rising to 40 mA at 135 MHz. Frequency stability grades are ±25 ppm, ±50 ppm and ±100 ppm, which include worst case variations in DC supply, load and temperature.

Long-term aging is typically less than ±1 ppm/year, while first year drift of the 'green' oscillator is ±3 ppm. The G-Series oscillators are available for the extended industrial temperature range of-40°C to +85°C, as well as 0°C to +70°C. Virtually identical G-Series oscillators can be supplied for 5V operation.

The oscillators feature tristate capability for automatic circuit board and system testing. Tristate operation shuts down oscillation, allowing for injection of diagnostic test signals. Subtle side benefit: oscillator shutdown provides a battery conserving sleep mode.

G-Series oscillators are based on hi-Q quartz crystals for low jitter and excellent frequency stability. A one-piece ceramic carrier includes multi-layer circuitry for interconnecting the oscillator's electrical components. The oscillators are available on tape and reel for automated circuit board assembly. Dimensions are 5 x 3.2 x 1.3 mm.
