ORS Deploys T-VIPS DVB-T2 Gateways to Power Austria's Nationwide Innovative DTT Service

Oslo, Norway - T-VIPS, a global leader in Digital Terrestrial TV solutions, today announced that ORS (Austrian Broadcasting Services) has chosen to deploy DVB-T2 Gateways from T-VIPS for the distribution of DVB-T2 programing as part of a new nationwide Austrian terrestrial service. In addition to the deployment of the T-VIPS CP560 T2 Gateways at the DVB-T2 Playout Center in Vienna, ORS will deploy the T-VIPS TNS541 Seamless TS Monitoring Switch and TNS547 DTT Monitor. The T-VIPS solutions were delivered by T-VIPS' Austrian business partner, TV-Connect.

"It's exciting to be playing a key role in this important Austrian hybrid DTT project," said Johnny Dolvik, CEO, T-VIPS. "Our DVB-T2 Gateway has been highly popular since launch. We pioneered the successful implementation of SFN (single frequency networks) in DVB-T2 and have kept our lead in terrestrial solutions through the launch of additional DTT-centric solutions. I'm pleased that ORS has validated the quality and reliability of T-VIPS solutions by choosing them for its new DTT services."

T-VIPS provides market leading solutions for both DVB-T and DVB-T2 systems that are the preferred choice of major terrestrial operators. T-VIPS solutions cover contribution to terrestrial head-ends, IP distribution to transmitter sites, SFN transmission, local content insertion, regional processing, monitoring and switching. The CP560 DVB-T2 Gateway provides a central point of control for DVB-T2 networks, enabling the operator to take advantage of the more efficient spectrum utilization promised by the next generation terrestrial broadcasting technology.

The CP560 adapts the transport stream to the DVB-T2 Modulator Interface format. It enables the DVB-T2 Modulator Interface to control the modulator parameters and provides the accurate timing and rate control required for SFN operation. The CP560 provides flexible interfacing with ASI or IP inputs, and DVB-T2 MI outputs over ASI and IP. The TNS541 and TNS547 enable cost effective monitoring of critical points in the transmission chain enabling operators to detect issues and take corrective actions before viewers experience problems. With the deployment of these products ORS can be confident of top class infrastructure performance.

"Not only does T-VIPS have great depth of DVB-T2 experience, it also has the broadest portfolio of gateway, monitoring and switching solutions designed specifically for DTT, making it the ideal partner to power the DVB-T2 part of our innovative hybrid project," said Peter Knorr, Head of DVB Systems Planning , ORS. "I look forward to the T-VIPS solutions ensuring that the DTT element of our new hybrid service provides Austria's consumers with the best possible terrestrial video offering."
