Toyota Announces Launch of Operator Friendly 7-Series Electric Narrow Aisle Order Picker

IRVINE, Calif. (Feb. 23, 2005)-Toyota Material Handling, U.S.A., Inc., (TMHU) the number one selling lift truck supplier in the U.S., expands its Order Picker line-up with the introduction of the 7-Series, Electric Narrow Aisle Order Picker. The new order picker features the latest in microprocessor technology, including new anti-rattle mast staging, a spring suspension system and electronic disc brakes, and is ideal for handling materials more efficiently in space-constrained environments.

The 7-Series Order Picker serves the needs of various industries, including automotive, garment, electronics and pharmaceutical. In addition, it is suited for applications related to general warehousing and distribution, retail stores and pick, pack and shipping operations.

"Many businesses are looking for solutions that will increase the efficiency of their warehouse operations, while stocking a variety of products," said Dr. Shankar Basu, president and CEO of TMHU. "In response to these market needs, we are pleased to introduce the new electric Order Picker, delivering a dynamic, ergonomic and economical solution."

The durability of Toyota's new 7-Series is enhanced by a 24-volt electrical system, delivering efficient power for maximum performance and long work cycles. A lift motor provides two-speed lift/lower control for fast, efficient and smooth load handling, and the Separately Excited (SepExTM) Drive Motor and Transistor Control System with MOSFET offers smooth speed control for precise positioning of the truck, regardless of speed.

Advanced features such as regenerative braking and stall protection help to extend the life of the motor and brake components. With fewer components, the new Order Picker leads to a reduction of downtime, maintenance and operating costs.

Engineers also incorporated numerous features to ensure operator comfort and safety, as well as increased productivity. A spacious compartment with a 7-3/4" low platform height eases frequent entry and exit. A spring suspension system isolates the vertical vibrations that occur while traveling, to improve operator comfort and productivity. These innovations reduce body stress and fatigue, and allow operators to feel more comfortable and remain productive.

Operator confidence is strengthened by auto-steer centering that automatically centers the drive tire upon start-up, assuring the operator of the truck's travel direction prior to movement. A flush-mounted brake pedal with cushioned floor mat allows increased freedom of movement and an electronic disc brake provides efficient braking power when the pedal is released.
