Orbit Takes Top Honors at NECA with 2014 Showstopper Award for Easy Access Lighting Box
LOS ANGELES, CA –Â Orbit Industries was honored at the national NECA Show with a 2014 Showstopper Award for the company’s time-saving Easy Access Lighting Box with swivel cover plate (EALBS).
The EALB was recognized as an innovative product that simplifies overhead installations and promotes greater job site safety, reported Orbit President and CEO David Nikayin.
“The award was a great honor for Orbit and our engineering team,” he said, “It recognizes our commitment to innovation and the value of pre-fab products that save time.
“With the EALB, just one person can install hanging light fixtures, security cameras, exit signs, motion detectors or other low voltage products,” he said.
The EALB features removable side and cover plates that allow the lighting fixture to be set in place while wiring connections are being made. It is UL-rated to hold up to 90 lbs and will support nearly any fixture.
“The set-up is really quite simple,” said Nikayin.
“The installer mounts the box to the beam with the side and cover plates removed. The lighting fixture is attached to the cover plate, which slides onto the box. Once the wiring connections are completed, the side plate is then attached to finish the installation.”
Model EALBS is available with an optional sliding swivel cover plate that offers greater stability for overhead fixtures. The swivel plate has a 20° angle that reduces the impact to hanging fixtures when struck or jarred.
“This is a great option for seismic retrofitting or in areas subject to motion or vibration. The EALBS can also be used on slightly sloped ceilings, giving more installation options,” said Nikayin.
The Easy Access Lighting Box is constructed from durable steel and features interchangeable cover plates, including swivel style. Captive, heavy-duty screws ensure stability during the installation process.
The Easy Access Lighting Box is also adaptable for the installation of other electrical devices, such as sockets. The product measures 4” x 4” x 2 1/8” deep and has side and bottom knockouts. Capacity is 30.3 cu in.
