(Elyria, Ohio) The new RIDGID® 5" Random Orbit Sander (Model R2600) provides more power than the competition, and offers the features to make this the sander of choice among professional woodworkers and contractors.
The R2600 features electronic-speed control, a permanent magnet motor, a Micro Fiber(TM) hook and loop pad, a soft start/pad brake, excellent dust collection capability, and a comfortable
ergonomic design.

The R2600 was designed with professionals' comfort in mind. The shape of the tool follows the shape and positioning of where a user would place their hand. Areas that would be gripped are covered with a rubber overmold to provide extra grip and comfort. The through-body sealed slide switch allows for easy operation, and allows the user to verify whether the tool is "on" or "off," preventing accidental start-up.
Its electronic speed control (7,000-12,000 rpm) provides the unit with feedback to maintain a constant speed under any load and provides the user with excellent control in all sanding situations. And its soft start/pad brake system prevents surface damage on start-up and shut down.
The 3 Amp, permanent magnet motor gives the user substantial power over comparable units. The motor design is compact, but powerful enough to maintain sanding speed under load with less vibration. And it features replaceable brushes for extended motor life.
The Micro Fiber(TM) hook and loop pad feature means that hook and loop sandpaper attaches so tightly to the pad that there is virtually no dust build-up, providing for longer pad life, even in a high production environment. In addition, it comes with its own PSA pad for quick and easy changes between hook-and-loop and PSA sanding.
Dust collection in the screw-on dust bag is highly efficient, and designed to dump the dust into the center of the bag for greater holding capacity and less spillage when emptied. The
unique, on-board vac-adaptor design of the dust exhaust port means it can be used with both 1-1/4" and 2-1/4" vacuum hoses.
The R2600 includes RIDGID's exclusive cord package. This package features a 12-foot rubber power cord, providing extra reach without an extension cord. The rubber cord is more durable than a plastic cord and stays flexible in cold weather. The cord also has a lighted plug, which confirms when the tool is "live," featuring a backlit icon of the tool for easy identification.
This feature also reduces confusion on busy jobsites, where many tool cords are often plugged into one central power strip. Finally, a Velcro(TM) cord wrap organizes the cord neatly for storage, eliminating knots and tangles.
