Orange County Fire Department Saves On Water Treatment

Orange County Fire Authority is saving thousands of dollars a year on expensive maintenance and early renewal of equipment following the installation of the patented, award-winning Scalewatcher computerized, electronic water-conditioner from Scalewatcher North America. Such was the success of the first Scalewatcher installation that 10 more devices have now been installed at other Fire Stations saving the Authority around $1,500 each year on each Firehouse fitted with Scalewatcher system.

The Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) is a regional fire service agency that serves 22 cities in Orange Country, California.  The OCFA protects over 1,400,000 residents from its 66 fire stations located through Orange Country.  Among the 22 cities are the major conurbations of Anahealm, Brea, Hunting Beach, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, Orange and Garden Grove, etc.

Most of Southern California has hard water. Water is considered "hard" if it contains relatively high levels of calcium and magnesium. The hardness of the water in much of the County is about 300 parts per million or about 18 grains per gallon which causes limescale to build up in pipelines and equipment.

OCFA initially arranged with local dealer, Aqua Genesis, to install a Scalewatcher computerized electronic water conditioner on the main water inlet to its facility in Irvine. Previously, due to scale build-up, the Fire Authority had endured high maintenance costs keeping its tankless water heaters running correctly.

"The success of the first installation resulted in us purchasing four further units and then subsequently another six.  I will be ordering more Scalewatcher units when my budget allows me to purchase them," said Steve Klein, Facilities Manager at OCFA.  "We have saved thousands of dollars on expensive maintenance. To date our systems are as clear as the day they were installed.  Between my plumber and me we call Scalewatcher, Our Magic Beans."

Other equipment at the Firehouses have also benefited.  "The dishwashers had been scaled up with white cloudy residue and now look like they just came off the showroom floor.  We also had scale build-up in our showerheads and now they are all crystal clear with no issue with the holes being clogged up," continued Steve Klein.

Now, following the Scalewatcher installation, service calls have been reduced by 40% and equipment is lasting longer.  In addition the showerheads and faucets no longer have to be cleaned or replaced.

Scalewatcher North America has a range of environmentally friendly units that will combat the effects of hard water limescale without the use of chemicals or salt. A fit and forget system, Scalewatcher is easy to install and requires no plumbing, maintenance or chemicals. Using modern, integrated circuitry the Scalewatcher emits an electronically applied force field, induced by a coil wrapped around the outside of the pipe work, which keeps the minerals in suspension and thus prevents limescale forming. The unit can be attached to all types of pipework material, regardless of size.

"I highly recommend to anyone who is having any hard water issues and has a tankless water heat system that they run out and purchase Scalewatcher before they have a failure and spend hundreds of dollars that they did not need to spend," concluded Steve Klein.

Scalewatcher models are based on continuous research and over 25 years experience and expertise as market leaders in electronic scale control with countless units sold worldwide.  The patented Scalewatcher systems start at $248.00 USD and are capable of treating pipe sizes from one to 80 inches. All Scalewatcher systems come with a full performance guarantee and include free shipping throughout North America.
