Stratos Lightwave Announces Multiple Enhancements To Its Line Of Small Form-Factor Pluggable Optical Transceivers

CHICAGO, IL--Stratos Lightwave, Inc. is announcing a number of enhancements to its line of high-performance Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) optical transceivers. These improvements will give both OEMs and end-users alike additional options so they can more closely meet the needs of their specific applications, plus better performance and a more robust product.

Customers can now choose packaging with a new 1-piece dog-leg actuator for increased reliability, or a new wire bail latch to ease transceiver removal in dense applications.

Electronic enhancements include the use of an oxide VSCEL laser diode for 850nm versions, and re-designed circuitry in all versions, for optimized eye pattern performance. All Stratos SFP transceivers are MSA-compatible.

The new mechanical and electronic enhancements are available now, across the full line of Stratos SFP transceivers. This includes OC-3, OC-12, and OC-48 SONET-compliant, dual-rate Gigabit Ethernet/Fibre Channel, and Rate-agile lx/2x Fibre Channel devices, in either 850nm or 1310nm models. Stratos offers both commercial and industrial operating temperature ranges.

These enhanced SFP transceivers are just part of Stratos' total SFP solution--the industry's widest offering of SFP products including not only transceivers, but cages, electrical connectors, fiber optic connectors, fiber optic cable assemblies, SFP loopback testers, SFP evaluation boards, and EMI dust plugs.

Pricing for the new enhanced SFP transceivers is expected to be comparable to previous versions. For additional information contact Stratos Lightwave, Inc., Optoelectronic Products, 7444 W.
