Optical Tapping System supports up to 8 full-duplex links.

Press Release Summary:

Housed in ½ U chassis, modular G-TAP(TM) Test Access Port System supports any combination of multi-mode and single-mode options at 100MegE, 1GigE, and 10GigE data rates. Unit supports 1-4 dual optical tap modules, each containing 2 full duplex links to conserve space and maximize TAP density. Six different media types and split ratios are available to meet all optical requirements.

Gigamon Unveils Value-Priced Hi-Density 1/2-U G-TAP(TM) System for 1&10 Gbps Optical Links

Ultra Thin 1/2-U Chassis Conserves Space While Supporting Up to Eight Full Duplex Links; Six versions of optical TAP modules support all optical network options allowing mixed media and split ratios

MILPITAS, Calif., April 9 /-- Gigamon, the manufacturer of GigaVUE and the global leader in intelligent Data Access Networking(TM) (DAN) products, today announced the availability of a new 1/2-U external G-TAP(TM) (Test Access Port) system that is priced to meet the needs of today's cost-conscious enterprise network manager. The modular G-TAP system is the highest density and most economical optical tapping system in the industry. It saves valuable rack space while supporting up to eight dual optical TAP links per chassis in any combination of multi-mode and single-mode options -- at all 100MegE, 1GigE and 10GigE data rates. The external G-TAP system complements Gigamon's industry leading GigaVUE data access/aggregation switch, combining high TAP density, optimal use of rack space and value pricing to create a flexible, one-stop connectivity solution.

"For ease of configuration, space efficiency, high reliability, and value, Gigamon's new 1/2-U passive G-TAP is a very attractive network monitoring component," said Patrick Leong, Gigamon's chief technical officer. "Its half-unit size is especially useful when a customer only needs four or less external TAPs, or when an odd number of external TAPs are required. In these situations, the 1/2-U system far outshines other companies' bulkier mounting systems."

Gigamon's G-TAP 1/2-U chassis supports from one to four dual optical tap modules -- up to eight full duplex links per chassis. Each module contains two full duplex links to conserve space and maximize TAP density. What's more, six different media types and split ratios are available to meet all optical requirements.

Specific modules in the system include:

-- 50/50 Multi-Mode, 850mm (1/10G)

-- 50/50 Single-Mode, 1310/1550mm (1/10G)

-- 50/50 Multi-Mode, 1310mm LRM (1/10G)

-- 70/30 Multi-Mode, 850mm (1/10G)

-- 70/30 Single-Mode, 1310/1550mm (1/10G)

-- 70/30 Multi-Mode, 1310mm LRM (1/10G)

All products in the G-TAP or GigaVUE lines are currently available for purchase from Gigamon or Gigamon's authorized resellers. For more information or to place an order, visit www.gigamon.com.

About Gigamon:

Gigamon invents and manufactures innovative solutions for data access networks. Its flagship product, GigaVUE(R), can support multiple out-of-band monitoring tools for compliance, security, troubleshooting and analysis, sidestepping the hassles presented when too few SPAN ports are available. It also can aggregate and intelligently filter packets from many SPANs or TAPs to one or multiple tools to solve the problem of monitoring flows across complex mesh topologies and virtual networks. The new G-TAP and GigaVUE(R) data access switches significantly reduce customers' capital budgets and yield immediate ROI benefits.
