Vytran Expands Family of Optical Fiber Glass Processors

Morganville, New Jersey - Vytran, an innovative supplier of optical fiber splicing and processing solutions, has expanded its GPX-3000 Series of optical fiber glass processors with the new "GPX-3600." GPX-3600 is a versatile, multipurpose system designed to process optical fibers with diameters as large as 1.8 mm. Vytran will demonstrate GPX-3600 at the Photonics West 2012 exhibition from January 24th through the 26th and at the associated BiOS exhibition January 21st and 22nd at Moscone Center in San Francisco, California.

"GPX-3600 inherits the full array of glass processing capabilities embedded in all GPX-3000 systems, but its added ability to process very large diameter fibers enables users to reach some new applications," said Jean-Michel Pelaprat, Vytran president and CEO. "For example, it can be used for high-power fiber delivery applications that require special splicing, such as an 800-micron-diameter fiber to a 1.8-millimeter-diameter fiber, or multiple small fibers to a large-diameter output fiber, or rods. GPX-3600 can also create high-count fiber combiners, including 37:1 and 61:1, and large-diameter end caps."

Vytran's GPX-3000 Series glass processors are used for R&D and production in markets ranging from fiber laser and sensing to medical and aerospace and defense. The systems allow users to create high-performance splices and fiber-based fused components such as combiners, tapers, mode converters, couplers and end caps, and can be used for processes such as thermal core expansion and mode field adapting. GPX systems accommodate fiber diameters as small as 125 microns and, in the case of the GPX-3600, as large as 1.8 mm.

Vytran will feature GPX-3600 at Photonics West booth 611 and at BiOS booth 8611. For added convenience, attendees can schedule appointments to discuss their unique fiber processing needs by contacting Jim Stathis, Vytran sales manager, at jstathis@vytran.com or by emailing sales@vytran.com.
