High Performance Family of Self-Contained Encoders
RENCO ENCODERS INC. of Goleta, CA, has a family of 4 self-contained optical encoders with integral bearings. The RENCO self-contained encoders include the RHS15, RS15, RCH20 and RCH25 types. The RHS15 hollow shaft encoder provides a 1.6 inch outside diameter (OD) package size, a frequency response of up to 200 KHz with available resolution up to 1250 pulses per revolution (ppr). The RS15 self-contained encoder has the same package size and resolution of the RHS15 with a face mounting configuration using four 4-40 UNC threaded holes located on a 1.000 bolt circle. The RCH20 hollow shaft commutation encoder possesses a 2.0 inch OD with resolutions up to 8192 ppr. The RCH20 frequency response reaches 300 KHz. The larger RCH25 hollow shaft commutation encoders have larger bore sizes and are 2.5 inch OD with a frequency response up to 250 KHz. Available resolutions reach 6000 ppr.
All RENCO self-contained encoders share a robust .060 inch chrome glass code disk, 3 channels (A, B & index), and a single light source for enhanced reliability. A differentiation photo transistor array is used and the input power level is 5 volts dc. The encoders are rated for 7000 rpm operation.
