Opto 22 Introduces OptoTerminal(TM)-G75

Company Offers New Ethernet-Enabled Operator Interface with Larger, Brighter Touch Screen

Temecula, CA - June 5, 2003 - Opto 22, a manufacturer and developer of hardware and software for industrial automation, remote monitoring, and enterprise data acquisition, has announced availability of the OptoTerminal-G75, a graphics-based operator interface for use with the company's Ethernet-based I/O systems.

The OptoTerminal-G75 is a 13 x 10.25 inch (330 x 260 mm) mountable color display terminal with a standard Ethernet port, a 10.4 inch (264 mm) diagonal, 640x480 pixel color touch screen, and soft keys. The terminal is used to monitor, send commands to, and receive real-time data from plant floor equipment and other devices and systems connected to Opto 22 hardware for the purposes of automation, data acquisition, remote monitoring, and control. As an object-based operator interface, the OptoTerminal-G75 uses graphics to display information on the screen, accept user input, and communicate with Opto 22 SNAP I/O systems. The terminal is ideal for factory automation, process control, discrete manufacturing, and equipment monitoring applications.

NEMA-4 rated and CE certified, the OptoTerminal-G75 has several new features and enhancements compared to the OptoTerminal-G70, Opto 22's first operator interface introduced in January of 2002. In addition to improved resolution, the OptoTerminal-G75 has an active-matrix TFT (Thin-Film Transistor) display, which is 200% brighter and provides increased horizontal and vertical viewing angles. Other enhancements include an aluminum housing and increased memory to 4MB flash and 16MB RAM.

The OptoTerminal-G75 was developed in response to Opto 22 customer needs for a large screen operator interface terminal suitable for industrial environments. The larger screen gives operators more area to create and use slider bars, onscreen buttons, meters, and other customized controls and indicators. The larger screen also allows more room for and easier visual analysis of trending plots and other graphics.

"Our first operator interface terminal for the plant floor, the OptoTerminal-G70, was introduced last year and has proven tremendously popular," says Bob Sheffres, Opto 22 vice president. "Now, as part of our continued commitment to meet customer demand, we're offering the new OptoTerminal-G75, an industrially hardened, low-cost, compact, and durable unit that's nearly twice as large."

The OptoTerminal-G75 is priced at $1995.00 USD and is available for purchase from the Opto 22 Web site (www.opto22.com) and through a network of authorized distributors and resellers.
