Human Machine Interfacing in Monochrome or Color

Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) supplies the new Simatic OP 177B Operator Panel and Simatic TP 177B Touch Panel with monochrome or color display. The 5.7" display screens either four blue tones or 256 colors. The OP 177B is equipped as standard with a touch display and also has 32 membrane keys that can all be configured depending on the image displayed. The new devices are each equipped with USB, MPI and Profibus interface, and the color versions also have a Profinet IO-enabled 10/100 megabit/s Ethernet interface. An optional hood for the touch panel protects against contamination and scratches. The 2MB user memory is also suitable for larger applications. A separate memory area is available for recipes. Projects and recipes can be saved on an external standard MMC card, and all process messages can be stored retentively in a maintenance-free message buffer.

Projects are created in up to 32 languages to facilitate global use, and these include languages with Cyrillic and Asian characters. From this diversity of languages, up to five online languages can be loaded onto the device simultaneously. Configuring is carried out using the Simatic WinCC flexible 2005 engineering software from the Compact version and higher, with powerful functions such as freely definable message system with bit and analog messages, language-dependent graphics, and recipe and user management. Reports can be freely configured and recipe data records can be edited in advance with WinCC flexible. Technology for telecontrol and remote maintenance over the Internet can be added to the panels using optional packages. The extensive graphics library provides support with complex images. The new panels have various approvals including EX2/22 and NEMA4, and approvals for use in shipbuilding.
