Software Supports New Smart Grid Devices and IPv6 Gateway

ATLANTA, -- Landis+Gyr has released version 6.1 of its operating software, Command Center, for monitoring and control of Gridstream(® )advanced metering and grid management solutions.

The software release provides support for new meters and communication modules, new network management functionality, security enhancements and introduces an IPv6 gateway to enable use of common IT tools in addressing Gridstream RF devices.

"Command Center 6.1 includes updates that allow Gridstream customers to expand their connected devices, gain operating efficiencies and improve overall network performance," said Lisa Washburn, Director of Software Product Management. "It's focused on improving user controls and adding support for new products and standards-based protocols."

Version 6.1 introduces an IPv6 gateway that expands existing IPv4 addressing capabilities for Gridstream RF devices. This feature provides greater interaction with utility IP-based tools for communicating with network devices, exporting meter data and Simple Network Management Protocol monitoring. The gateway is part of a comprehensive standards-based architecture initiative to enable the use of IPv6 applications in legacy smart grid systems and enhance Gridstream functionality with grid management equipment partners.

Security enhancements include new password management options that provide more flexibility to system administrators and new settings for advanced security related to the expiration and reconfiguration of encryption keys.

Additionally, new products supported within Version 6.1 include the Landis+Gyr E650 S4x polyphase meter, M220 gas metering module for commercial/industrial applications and the C7500 Gridstream RF data collector, featuring Landis+Gyr's next generation network communication technology.

Command Center is a multi-platform operating system used to manage Gridstream advanced metering network technologies, including RF mesh, PLC and cellular. The 6.1 version release is available now for all Gridstream customers.
