Openwave Demonstrates MobileSTICK Solution for Fixed Mobile Convergence

BridgePort's MobileSTICK Solution is Designed to Enable Operators to Securely Compete With PC-Based Voice Communications Services

BARCELONA, Spain, 3GSM World Congress, Feb. 14 /- Openwave Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:OPWV), the leading independent provider of software solutions for the communications and media industries, today announced plans to collaborate with BridgePort Networks for fixed mobile convergence (FMC) as part of its Adaptive Mobility portfolio of offerings. MobileSTICK(TM) will enable Openwave's GSM and UMTS operator customers to securely extend their mobile communications experience onto the PC desktop.

"Convergence is driving the development of innovative new applications that unify voice, data, and messaging capabilities into a seamless experience," said Dave Ratner, vice president, product management, Openwave. "The BridgePort Networks offering should help operators address the needs of current and prospective desktop users with a secure, single identity capability. MobileSTICK also opens the door to new convergence revenue opportunities in communications."

As the first step in such proposed collaboration, three MobileSTICK applications integrated with Openwave's IP-based Adaptive Communications platform are being demonstrated at 3GSM 2007 World Congress (Openwave Hospitality Suite AV93-97, Avenida Cristina), including:

o Inbound and outbound voice calls using a PC broadband softphone that uses the same mobile phone number identity as the paired mobile handset.
o Mobile messaging integration with the PC through the innovative MMS drag-and-drop feature, enabling easy access to photos, music and videos stored on their PC or accessed from anywhere on the internet via the PC browser.
o Email click-to-call with Openwave® Rich Mail, a PC-based Web mail solution designed for carrier-scale deployment by broadband and mobile operators.

The MobileSTICK solution is designed to securely transform personal computers connected to the Internet over cable, DSL, Wi-Fi or virtually any other broadband link into end-points for mobile operator services, with Internet cost economics.

Openwave's Adaptive Communications portfolio offers the ability to personalize and simplify messaging services so that consumers can focus on the act of communication rather than the network, device or protocol used. Openwave's offerings are designed to break today's silos between myriad communications applications to create a more integrated, holistic experience.
