Openwave Adaptive Messaging Awarded by GSM Association

BARCELONA, Spain, 3GSM World Congress, Feb. 14 /- Openwave Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:OPWV), the leading provider of open software products and services for the communications industry, today announced that Openwave Adaptive Messaging was awarded a commendation in the Best Mobile Messaging Service category of the 2007 Global Mobile Awards. Openwave Adaptive Messaging has also previously been recognized with the Frost & Sullivan 2006 Product Line Strategy Award.

Commented David Peterschmidt, president and CEO, Openwave: "We are delighted to have been recognized in this way by the GSM Association. Openwave Adaptive Messaging simplifies the user experience so people can focus on communicating rather than deciding which network, device or protocol to use."

Rob Conway, CEO of the GSM Association added: "The 2007 Awards attracted the greatest number of entries in the 12 year history of the competition, and to be recognised for excellence at this level is an achievement of which you can be justifiably proud. My congratulations on behalf of the GSMA -- we wish you every continued success."

At this week's 3GSM 2007, Openwave separately announced Telefonica Moviles' trial of the Openwave® Converged Communications Solution (CCS). Openwave CCS and Adaptive Messaging are part of the Openwave Adaptive Mobility suite, which enables operators to deliver personalized, easy-to-use, and revenue-generating services for content and communications across all networks and devices.

At 3GSM 2007, Openwave unveiled a number of new Openwave Adaptive Mobility solutions that further its commitment to personalizing and simplifying the user experience of mobile content and communications, and unlocking new operator revenue streams through targeted marketing and advertising. These include the launch of the Openwave® Personalization and Profiling System (OPPS), designed to help operators deliver an enhanced, personalized user experience across networks and devices; Openwave® MediaCast, a personalized content delivery and merchandising system; and Openwave® Contextual Merchandising, enabling operators to generate revenue from off-portal traffic.

Musiwave, an Openwave company, was a premier sponsor of the Mobile Entertainment Award category at last night's GSMA Global Mobile Awards.
