Open for Business...Entrust EV SSL Certificates Now Available Online Next Generation SSL Technology Helps Counteract Phishing Attacks to Help Protect Customers Online

DALLAS, Jan. 18 -- This is just the beginning. The new year ushers in a new, cutting-edge SSL technology that promises to be the first among many breakthrough security techniques to help in the fight against phishing and man-in-the-middle fraud attacks. Extended Validation SSL Certificates offer unprecedented security for protection of both consumers and businesses alike.

Today, Entrust, Inc. (NASDAQ:ENTU) provides a fast, convenient way for organizations to order this security revolution -- online at http://www.entrust.net/

"In a constant battle against identity theft, Entrust stands behind the new EV SSL Certificate technology and is making it available to organizations via a number of efficient methods," said Entrust Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Bill Conner. "Because the new technology makes valid sites easier to detect, it becomes very difficult for fraudsters to target innocent consumers with sophisticated phishing attacks, as well as helping to protect the brand, reputation and resources of legitimate organizations that can be negatively affected."

When consumers use an EV SSL-aware, next-generation browser, it will be easy for them to know if a particular Web site is secure. Valid sites will trigger the address bar to turn green, and information about the company operating the site and the certification authority (CA) that issued the certificate will be displayed.

Entrust EV SSL certificates will still be recognized by older browser versions that are not EV SSL-aware. Although older browsers will not display the company name -- or a green background address bar -- the closed padlock will still be present.

Extended validation refers to rigorous, industry-standard validation methods to be used by a certification authority (CA) before issuing an EV SSL certificate. An Extended Validation SSL Server Certificate is a new category of SSL certificate created by an industry consortium called the CA/Browser Forum. This new category of certificate was conceived in response to the growing threats of phishing and man-in-the-middle attacks. EV SSL certificates will be issued to Web sites only after completing the new validation process. Next-generation Web browsers will reflect this higher level of identity assurance with the aforementioned prominent and distinct trust indicators.

Entrust Extended Validation SSL Server Certificates are available for purchase through Entrust's Certificate Services Web site at www.entrust.net/.
