Tiny Rail-to-Rail Dual Op Amps in SOT23-8 Package Draw 90% Less Current than Competing Devices
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- (July 2, 2002) -- Two tiny rail-to-rail dual operational amplifiers that consume one-tenth the power of comparable devices are now available from Micrel for use in cell phones, PDAs, MP3 players and other portable equipment. Micrel Semiconductor (NASDAO: MCRL) is an industry leader in analog and high-speed communication integrated circuits.
The MIC862 dual op amp provides a -3dB bandwidth of 5MHz and a gain-bandwidth product of 3MHz, yet consumes only 31uA current per channel. For applications that require lower power consumption, the MIC863 dual op amp operates at 4.2uA per channel, while still providing a comfortable -3dB bandwidth of 800kHz and a gain-bandwidth product of 450kHz.
Both op amps operate from 5V down to 2V power supply. Their low power consumption and size make the MIC862 and MIC863 ideal for battery-powered handheld devices such as PDAs, cell phones and micro-portable laptops.

The MIC862 and 863 are unity gain stable. They are specified at supply voltages of 2V, 2.7V and 5V. Input offset voltage is 0.1mV (typical), large signal voltage gain is 96dB, PSRR is 92dB and CMRR is 87dB.
