ONYX Graphics Supports New HP Designjet Z6200 Photo Printer
SALT LAKE CITY -- ONYX Graphics, Inc. today announced it has achieved HP certification of ONYX Graphics' raster image processing (RIP) software to drive the recently-announced HP Designjet® Z6200 photo printer. The ONYX driver will be available to licensed users of ONYX ProductionHouse(TM), ONYX PosterShop® and ONYX RIPCenter(TM) version X10 RIP software packages.

HP confirms which RIPs reach a superior level of integration, compatibility and performance with a particular HP printer. The overall level of integration and performance is reflected in the 'star rating' awarded. ONYX workflow software version X10 received full "Three Star Rating" marks for the HP Designjet Z6200 photo printer driver.
Supported Features
The ONYX driver for the HP Designjet Z6200 photo printer includes support for the following features:
Multiple ink configurations: The ONYX driver's unique support of RGB continuous tone and CMYKmkR photo and CMYKmkR matte halftone configurations on the same printer driver makes it easy to use available HP media profiles. Customers with the ONYX Media Manager module can also create high quality color profiles for third-party media.
Automatic updates: The ONYX driver implementation of the bi-directional communication capabilities of this printer assures customers that, when a firmware upgrade is issued or a new media package from HP is installed on the printer, the ONYX driver will receive that information dynamically and automatically support any new media types and print modes.
Color matching: Out-of-the-box PANTONE®, HKS and RAL spot color matching works very well with the included HP media profiles built with the ONYX 32-bit color engine. For example, the included profile for HP Premium Instant Dry Gloss Photo Paper enables users to accurately print more than 95% of PANTONE coated colors.
Custom media: The ONYX driver supports creation of custom media types through the ONYX Media Manager module. These customer-created media types are displayed in the driver media list and uploaded for display on the printer's front panel.
Spectrophotometer support: The HP Designjet Z6200 photo printer has an onboard spectrophotometer color device for color profiling and calibration. ONYX software fully supports all of the functions of this color device including fast recalibration and new media profiling (for use with ONYX ProductionHouse version X10 software only).
User interface: ONYX software displays all printer-generated information messages in a user-friendly interface and displays pop-up warning messages when error conditions occur.
