On2 Technologies to Showcase Mobile Video Innovations at CTIA Wireless

TARRYTOWN, N.Y., March 19 / -- On2 Technologies, Inc., (AMEX:ONT), a leader in video compression software and solutions, announced today that it will showcase mobile video solutions which are designed to broaden the reach of popular content to mobile devices and increase the devices available to receive mobile video at the CTIA Wireless show in Orlando, Fla., March 27-29. The products demonstrated at the CTIA Wireless show will be the On2 Flix Engine 3GPP and On2 TrueMobile mobile video system.
The On2 Flix® Engine 3GPP is intended to bring popular video for Adobe® Flash® and other video formats to mobile video phones by transcoding existing content to the common 3GPP video format. Among the unique facets of the Flix Engine 3GPP is the ability to transcode On2 VP6 for Flash files used by Adobe Flash Player 8 and 9. 3GPP is the industry standard format for mobile video and the vast majority of video capable mobile phones in the market support 3GPP video formats. With the Flix Engine 3GPP, video portals and service providers can simultaneously create Flash video for their web sites and 3GPP files for mobile users, and also repurpose existing Flash video content for 3GPP devices. The current release of Flix Engine 3GPP supports H.263 and AMR-NB formats.
TrueMobile(TM) is On2's end to end mobile video system designed to reach the largest number of handsets across the most networks, including 2.5G networks in addition to 3G, 3.5G and 4G networks. Among the unique features of TrueMobile is the ability to deliver quality video at data rates as low as 20kpbs, allowing mobile video on legacy 2.5G networks and without network upgrades. The TrueMobile player is an over-the-air download, which upgrades most popular browser-enabled phones to VP7 video phones.
