Glacier Computer Offers Advanced Computing Power With Its New M5(TM) Computer

Modular Unit Offers Enhanced Readability

Glacier Computer Corporation, in agreement with Data 911 of Alameda, California, announces the M5(TM) modular computer system with a 12.1" 1200 nit sunlight readable display. Originally designed for use in public safety vehicles, the M5 is ideal for applications requiring true sunlight readability and advanced computing power. It is offered as a modular solution, in that the CPU, display, power supply and keyboard are separate components, allowing for flexible installation options in vehicles where space is limited.

The screen is readable in all lighting conditions, while the processing power and wireless options bring full-blown computing power to previously unreachable areas, including marine, construction vehicles, utility vehicles, dockyards, and crane environments.

The M5 features Pentium III 700 MHz - 1.0 GHz processors, 256-512 MB Dram, 20 gig minimum hard drive, and multiple I/O capabilities, including 3 serial, 1 parallel, VGA, audio, 10/100 Ethernet, dual PC slots and 2 USB. It also comes with a capacitive touchscreen as well as a backlit keyboard and a 12V power supply.

The M5 compliments Glacier Computer's existing line of industrial computers, including the M-Station and I-Station. "The M5 is the only option when customers demand true sunlight readability combined with Windows-based computing power" states Dan Poisson, Glacier's Director of Technical Services. "The engineering required to make the unit suitable for public safety has translated well to the rigorous applications of the manufacturing and transportation sectors."
