OMAX® Showcasing Innovations for Oil Industry Equipment Subcontractors at WMTS 2011

Kent, Washington, April 22, 2011 - OMAX Corporation will be demonstrating abrasive waterjet solutions for oil industry equipment subcontractors at the Western Manufacturing and Technology Show (WMTS) 2011, to be held in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, on June 14-16. Located in booth #1521, the company will focus on how the technological innovations in its machines provide direct benefit to shops serving the oil and gas industry.

Compared to alternative machining technologies, such as laser and plasma, OMAX abrasive waterjets offer the distinct advantage of cutting without creating heat-affected zones. This proves beneficial across many applications, including the manufacture of steam piping components for the oil sands industry. Additionally, the high productivity achievable with OMAX abrasive waterjets enables manufacturers to meet customers' rising demand for shorter turnaround times.

In its WMTS 2011 booth, OMAX will be demonstrating the 5555 JetMachining® Center, a perfect fit for shops needing a machine with a smaller footprint, that is also capable of cutting medium-sized stock. Its table measures 80 inches x 65 inches (2032 mm x 1650 mm) and is paired with generous X-Y cutting travels of 55 inches x 55 inches (1397 mm x 1397 mm).

As a cantilever-style machine, the OMAX 5555 JetMachining Center comes standard with the OMAX MAXJET® 5i Nozzle. With a completely sealed and protected ball screw drive system, this robust and reliable workhorse is perfect for shops cutting projects with medium dimensions needing high precision.

EnduroMAX(TM) pump technology furthers OMAX's standing as the industry leader in direct drive waterjet pump technology. This recently introduced technology provides double the operating life and makes for faster part processing, lower operating costs, and easier maintenance for OMAX JetMachining Centers.

The EnduroMAX pump maximizes machine uptime with its 1,000-hour operating range between required pump rebuilds when run at 55,000 psi (3,800 bar). However, the pump also effortlessly runs continuously at 60,000 psi (4,100 bar). All models of EnduroMAX pumps deliver 60,000 psi and are offered in various horsepower ratings. The available models are the 3060 30 hp, the 4060 40 hp, and the 5060 50 hp.

OMAX is committed to developing cutting-edge technology and innovative software to ensure that each customer enjoys the benefits of the industry's most technologically advanced abrasive waterjet machines and accessories.
