Leadis Technology Announces 65K Color OLED Driver IC with Color Tuning Adjustments for Panel and Temperature Variation

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Aug. 31 / - Leadis Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:LDIS), a leading mixed-signal semiconductor developer of color display driver ICs for small panel displays, today announced sample availability of the LDS522, a 65K color OLED driver IC with integrated controller supporting 128 (RGB) x 68, 128 (RGB) x 36, and 96 (RGB) x 68 display resolutions. Integrating 139k bits of full frame memory, an on-chip oscillator, and a DC/DC converter, the LDS522 is a highly integrated SoC designed to provide vivid and accurate color images for MP3 player and mobile phone sub-display applications.

The device features two independent adjustment settings for the RGB reference current affecting OLED luminance and color accuracy. The first setting is stored in the integrated EEPROM and adjusts the current based on panel process variation, enabling more consistency from display to display. The second adjustment utilizes an on-board sensor to measure the display module temperature and generate a digital output used to dynamically fine tune the RGB reference current in response to temperature changes. Luminance control and gamma correction functions are also provided to further optimize display quality.

"The color adjustment features of the LDS522 empower customers with the tools to tune their OLED displays for both color consistency and accuracy," said Kevin Plouse, Vice President of Marketing. "With its integrated temperature sensor, our new OLED driver IC also helps to maintain display quality over the operating temperature range of customers' products."
