OKI Delivers Kiosk Terminal to Haneda Airport 's New International Terminal

TOKYO - OKI Electric Industry (TSE: 6703) today announced the delivery of 40 units of the SUKIT(TM) kiosk terminal to the newly opened international terminal building at Haneda Airport. This oft-encountered class of device is used as an automated check-in terminal by nearly all airlines. The common use self service (CUSS) check-in software for the SUKIT was provided and installed by ARINC Incorporated, to be used by various airlines.

The new international terminal building built at Haneda Airport by Tokyo International Air Terminal Corporation (TIAT) is positioned as a new Asian air hub and as Japan's representative gateway. TIAT anticipates some 90 million passengers will pass through the terminal each year. While building the new terminal, TIAT considered various measures to enhance user-friendliness, including a shared check-in terminal to make check-in as efficient as possible and to minimize passenger delays.

"OKI's SUKIT was developed based on our know-how as the leader in the industry and our strong track records in ATMs (Automated Teller Machine), self check-in terminals for airline companies, and ticket reservation and issuing systems for railroad companies. It is user-friendly, since all necessary devices for operation are placed in the front, and a blinking light on the device can guide users through successive steps," says Yasushi Kiriku, General Manager of Enterprise Systems, Marketing and Sales Division at OKI. "TIAT evaluated SUKIT's user-friendly aspects, including its design and the wide range of devices that add functionality, including a passport reader, 2D barcode scanner, and a boarding pass printer, all requisites for overseas travel."

The SUKIT terminal installed at the check-in counter on the third floor of the new international terminal building allows passenger check-in for multiple airlines from a single SUKIT terminal. The airlines served by SUKIT include All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan Airlines (JAL), and several overseas airlines that fly to Haneda Airport.

Travelers using SUKIT can expect enhanced user-friendliness when they check in, based on information input via airline homepages and reservations made by travel agencies and accessed simply by scanning their mileage cards, 2D barcodes, and passports.

OKI intends to market SUKIT aggressively as a new nexus with customers in various domains in Japan and overseas.
