OK International Soldering, Desoldering & Rework System Triumphs at NPI Awards
Following its recent Service Excellence Award, OK International has collected a prestigious Circuit's Assembly's New Product Introduction award at the Apex exhibition in Las Vegas. Recognizing the company's Metcal MX-5000 Soldering, Desoldering and Rework System in the Soldering Hand Tools category, the awards highlighted the technology's capacity to address complex assembly challenges.
Now in its second year, the awards program celebrates innovative electronics assembly products introduced during the past 12 months. Judged by an independent panel of four practicing industry engineers, the awards evaluated the MX-5000 on critical factors including creativity and innovation, compatibility with existing technology, cost-effectiveness, design, environmental friendliness, reliability, maintainability, flexibility, performance and user-friendliness. Designed to lower training costs, extend application possibilities and enhance productivity, the MX-5000 system was a clear winner in this category.

The MX-5000's patented SmartHeatR Technology delivers moderate fixed temperatures at variable power levels to provide a uniquely controlled soldering and rework process. Its 80 watt, microprocessor controlled power supply is nearly double the size of its predecessor and monitors and varies power according to thermal load. Incorporating a built-in power indication meter with digital display and bar graph that dynamically provides feedback on the status of the soldering operation, the MX-5000 offers a repeatable resource for the creation of consistent, acceptable solder joints.
