Official Award Presentation - Item Receives the "German Design Award 2012 Silver"

During the official awards ceremony of the "German Design Award 2012", which was held on 10 February at the "Ambiente" consumer goods fair in Frankfurt, product designer Markus Völkel accepted the prestigious silver design award on behalf of item Industrietechnik GmbH. The award was presented in recognition of the successful Line D30, which last year won the "iF gold award 2011" for outstanding product design.

Line D30 is a building kit system designed for lean production applications that is based on the principles of simplicity and ease of use. The components, tubes and fastening elements, all made from high-strength aluminium, can be conveniently assembled with a single tool to produce versatile fixtures - directly at the place of use. The intelligent fastening technology enables users to connect elements via flexible fixings. In conjunction with the item MB Building Kit System, Line D30 presents a versatile and efficient addition to any company's equipment stores.

The highly regarded "German Design Award" is presented each year by the German Design Council, in recognition of outstanding achievements in product and communication design. A total of 1,500 entries to the competition were narrowed down to submissions that were judged to be pioneering and market-ready. The Council selected the best 50 products that represented innovative and international design trends. The "German Design Award" was until recently known as the "Designpreis Deutschland".
