Oce ColorWave 600 Large Format Color Printer Wins MUST SEE 'EM Honors at GRAPH EXPO Show

Many other Oce systems also recognized for compelling innovation

CHICAGO, Oct. 29 /-- Oce, a global leader in digital document management and delivery, announces that the Oce ColorWave(TM) 600 large format color toner printer was honored with a "MUST SEE 'EMS"® Award at the GRAPH EXPO® conference in Chicago. In addition, numerous other Oce hardware and software solutions received prestigious "Worth a Look" and "Encore Worth a Look" recognition. Oce PRISMAproduction(TM) software Version 4, the Oce VarioPrint® 4120 digital printer and the Oce Arizona® 350 GT wide format printers were named "Worth a Look" winners, while the Oce ColorStream(TM) 10000 color system was an "Encore Worth a Look" winner.

The MUST SEE 'EMS recognition program, part of the EXECUTIVE OUTLOOK® Conference, highlights GRAPH EXPO's most unique, innovative and compelling products and services. Winners were announced Saturday, October 25, immediately following the EXECUTIVE OUTLOOK Conference. The MUST SEE 'EMS Awards, sponsored by PrintCom Consulting Group, are presented to products and technologies that exemplify compelling innovation in the graphic communications industry. The EXECUTIVE OUTLOOK Conference precedes the GRAPH EXPO show, the most comprehensive prepress, printing, package printing, converting, mailing and fulfillment and digital equipment trade show in America.

"Oce innovation has received yet another prestigious industry honor, and we are extremely pleased to be selected for the MUST SEE 'EMS awards. The Graphic Arts marketplace demands the highest quality and productivity, and this recognition validates our dedication to providing products that meet these rigorous standards," said Joseph D. Skrzypczak, President and CEO, Oce North America.

The new Oce ColorWave 600 printer is the first large format color toner printer to utilize a fundamentally new printing technology called Oce CrystalPoint(TM) that combines the best of toner and inkjet printing in one machine. The Oce CrystalPoint process converts solid Oce TonerPearls(TM) color toner into a gel. This "tonergel" is then jetted and crystallized onto any type of paper for waterfast, high quality images with extremely accurate dot placement. The Oce ColorWave 600 printer brings new applications to the technical color market including short run and disposable indoor/outdoor signage. Print speeds -- 30 seconds for a 3'x4' print -- are at least twice as fast as conventional inkjet systems. Prints can be handled immediately since they dry instantly. The printer produces no ozone, odor or fine powder emissions thanks to solid Oce TonerPearls color toner.

The latest version of Oce PRISMAproduction workflow software offers full process color support for advanced production systems including the Oce VarioStream® 9240 and Oce ColorStream 10000 digital printers and Oce JetStream(TM) systems. It brings high performance processing to monochrome, full color and Oce CustomTone® printing in graphic arts, transaction and transpromo applications. Oce PRISMAproduction Version 4 software supports legacy applications and integrates with existing environments including those using non-Oce printers. A VIPP® converter helps users avoid costly application redesigns, while a PPML converter lets customers use high-speed IPDS devices. Additional back-end options drive non-IPDS devices in specific environments for further unfettered versatility. A PCL® module increases flexibility in mixed environments requiring support of this standard format.

New Oce VarioPrint 4000 cut-sheet printers are designed to close the gap between light production and very-high-volume production. Print operations can leverage functions and productivity typically available only with higher-volume machines. The systems bring sophisticated printing, copying, scanning and finishing to commercial and in-house printshops. The family features Oce CopyPress imaging, which presses toner onto the paper at much lower temperatures. Excellent registration ensures accuracy when printing books. The 120 ppm Oce VarioPrint 4120 and the 106 ppm Oce VarioPrint 4110 black and white digital printing systems are designed for environments that print between 100,000 and 2,500,000 documents per month. Both systems run at rated speeds on a variety of media, including coated, heavy stock, oversized and custom media.

The new Oce Arizona 350 GT UV-curable, flatbed printer with Oce VariaDot(TM) imaging technology delivers near-photographic quality for large format display graphics. The Oce Arizona 350 GT system is the next generation model in the award-winning Oce Arizona printer line. Designed as a true flatbed system, it can print on a wide variety of rigid substrates and features a Roll Media Option for printing onto flexible media. The new printer includes support for white ink printing and high production print speeds. The Oce Arizona 350 GT expands the popular Oce Arizona family of UV curable, flatbed printers, which also includes the Oce Arizona 200 GT and the Oce Arizona 250 GT printers.

Following on its win last year, the Oce ColorStream 10000 system was also named an "Encore Worth a Look" at the 2008 conference. The Oce ColorStream 10000 continuous feed, digital full-color press delivers full process color at 172 ipm, combining with Oce CustomTone® toner to meet Graphic Arts requirements. Dot modulation enriches color applications with crisp graphics and smooth gradations. The system prints on most stock, from onionskin to newspaper, heavy and glossy.
