Oberon Presents New 3D Models for Use in Planning Network Physical Security

By Providing Physical Security and Wireless Signal Transparency, Enclosures Simplify Network Deployments

State College, PA - Oberon, Inc., a leading manufacturer of wireless and telecom enclosures, has announced additions to its publication of complete CSI 3-part architectural specs, CAD details, and BIM objects for the Oberon product line. These tools will assist architects and engineers in planning the placement of networking equipment within building designs.

Two new Oberon enclosures will be of particular interest in the planning of stadium and major outdoor deployments. Models 1021-00 and 1026-00 are compact NEMA-4 enclosures designed specifically to protect Cisco 1140, 1260, 3500, 3502p, and 3600 series and other wireless LAN access points in challenging outdoor environments such as retail centers, college campuses, and stadiums. The rugged polycarbonate enclosure protects the access point from weather, dust, and impacts. With proper sealing, these enclosures are NEMA-4X rated. The plastic is UV stabilized for outdoor installations.

Oberon's new Model 1041-00 wireless LAN access point mount is a 12 inch by 12 inch (305 mm by 305 mm) concealed spline (or concealed tee) ceiling tile designed specifically to conveniently and aesthetically secure the Cisco 1140, 1260, 3500 and 3600 series wireless access points. The Cisco access point is mounted into this white powder-coated steel ceiling tile, and it installs into the ceiling runners like a standard concealed spline tile. The access point is securely flush to the ceiling, making for an aesthetic installation, and providing ideal, unobstructed wireless coverage.

The Model 1052-AN-ANT16 ceiling enclosure provides secure, convenient, aesthetic mounting for Aruba Networks APs. The Model 1066-00 secure ceiling mounting solution provides housing specifically designed with the Aruba Networks AP-135 in mind. BIM models are now available for the new Model 1068-00, a universal, secure ceiling mount for wireless access points, and Model 1090-00 ceiling mounted consolidation point enclosure.

ARCAT, a major publisher of building product information, has created and listed the AutoDesk® Revit® BIM objects on their site at www.arcat.com. BIM objects allow engineers and architects to import models into design programs. Embedded links to product specifications mean the amount of time spent in product research and data entry is significantly reduced and the process is made more convenient.

Scott D. Thompson, President and Co-Founder of Oberon, Inc. and Oberon's Engineering Director, stated that the decision to partner with ARCAT was the next step in the company's mission to make the network design process more convenient for Oberon customers. "Providing CSI 3-part architectural specs, CAD details, and BIM objects is one of the best ways to save our customers research time and make it easy to spec in the right product with easy access to product data," Thompson explained. "The high-quality, information-rich packaging used by ARCAT makes it even easier for building and design professionals to visualize and improve designs, ensure the right products are selected, simplify project scheduling, and see how certain products such as our telecommunications enclosures can simplify future network growth within the same physical spaces."

Oberon manufactures enclosures and mounting solutions for wireless LAN access points. A wide variety of models are available for mounting equipment in both suspended and hard-lid ceilings, on walls, and in outdoor/NEMA environments. Telecommunications enclosures for networking components are also offered for both office and home environments. Enclosures provide security through locking doors, convenience of access to simplify maintenance, and a sleek, aesthetic appearance.
