New Anti-Backlash Nut
HSI has added an Anti-Backlash Nut option to their line of linear motion products. This anti-backlash nut is ideal for applications that require extreme precision over extended periods of time.
This nut eliminates the minimal backlash between the leadscrew and nut interface on HSI's size 17 linear actuators and is available for non-captive and captive designs. The resulting compact package delivers the reliability of a stepper based linear actuator with the added precision and repeatability of an anti-backlash system at an attractive price. The spring preload design assures precision over millions of cycles.
The nuts are available in a .218" and .250" diameter screw for HSI's size 17 linear actuators. The nuts are made from self-lubricating thermo plastic or glass-reinforced resin depending upon the application. Broad ranges of preload requirements can be accommodated up to 15 lbs (67 N). This feature is usable for every linear actuator application, but particularly desirable when the motor has to work precisely in both directions and when going back for home positioning is not practical. HSI also offers anti-backlash nuts for their external linear actuators.
