NTT America Announces Multi-Continent 10 Gigabit Ethernet Access

NEW YORK, July 19 // -- NTT America, a wholly-owned U.S. subsidiary of NTT Communications Corporation, today announced the immediate availability of a 10 gigabit per second Ethernet (10GigE) to the NTT Communications Global IP Network. The offering marks the first time that an exceptionally high-speed bandwidth connection has been made available to a wider service area.

As the demand for increased high-speed bandwidth continues to grow, NTT America and its Global IP Network Business unit (GIN) are committed to offering its customers access to reliable and stable connections across locations throughout Asia, North America and Europe. The service, which is available for both IPv4 and IPv6 transport, offers GIN service provider customers guaranteed reliability and accountability through financially backed service level agreements.

"We have found that many of our bleeding-edge technology customers are driving the IP applications of tomorrow, and their businesses have massive IP transit requirements in order to support IP-TV, video-on-demand, massive transit aggregation from consumer broadband, and web hosting centers," said Kazuhiro Gomi, Vice President of GIN. "Until now, no other service provider has been able to deliver this level of reliability, stability and exceptionally high-speed at points of presence over three continents."

By utilizing GIN's high-speed bandwidth offering, current customers have obtained increased connectivity without the hardship of increased associated costs. As an example of the service's high speed offering, customers can transfer an hour television program in 1.35 seconds or 1.25 gigabytes per second.

"In keeping with its global technology leadership, NTT Communications has raised the bar again by offering 10GigE to customers spanning three continents. The global reach of this ultra high speed Ethernet service across the U.S., Europe and Asia is a first in the industry," said Joshua Holbrook, senior analyst at the Yankee Group. "By further layering in IPv6 capabilities, NTT Communications clearly established itself as an industry leader."

GIN monitors all services on a 24x7x365 through a multi-continent NOC. Customers also have direct access to GIN's engineering staff for support services if necessary.
