Novell Named 2011 CRN Channel Champion in Network Security Software

Novell aggressively expanding in key growth markets across the Middle East as part of its channel strategy for the region

Novell was named an Overall Winner of the 2011 CRN Channel Champion awards in the category of Network Security Software and sub-categories of Technical Satisfaction and Support Satisfaction. Novell received the award at a ceremony in Orlando, Florida recently, at the XChange Solution Provider conference. The CRN Channel Champions are awarded in 25 technology categories and are based on surveys conducted with top solution providers. Novell was recognized for delivering exceptional security products to partners including, Novell® Access Manager(TM), Novell Sentinel(TM) and Sentinel Log Manager and Novell ZENworks® Endpoint Security Management.

The CRN Channel Champions study measures overall solution provider perceptions of vendor products and services. Solution providers were asked to evaluate the importance of partner technology, support and financial criteria in the channel. They were then asked to rate vendor performance in these areas, based on their perceived importance. CRN Channel Champion awards are based on these survey results. Awards are distributed in 25 technology fields and in four categories - technical satisfaction, support satisfaction, financial factors and overall champion.

"We are honored to be recognized by CRN as a leading channel vendor in the competitive Network Security category," said John Dragoon, senior vice president, chief marketing officer and channel chief at Novell. "We are especially proud of this award since the voting was done by solution providers. Novell provides partners with superior support and enables end users to cost-effectively manage and secure complex IT environments. Our customers benefit from our partners' outstanding IT and industry-leading skills and the excellence of Novell's security portfolio of solutions."

Kelley Damore, Vice President and Executive Editor at CRN, said, "The Channel Champions award recognizes the most innovative, reliable and channel-friendly vendors, as voted on by solution providers. These awards recognize vendors whose technical innovation and product quality has surpassed the competition, helping to drive increased revenue for their channel partners. This survey is an essential resource for the Channel community. We congratulate these leading technology vendors on this recognition."

Diyaa Zebian, Managing Director of Novell Middle East and Africa, said: "This is a very important milestone for Novell that will add momentum to our ongoing expansion program in the Middle East. The award underlines our strong commitment to provide superior services to our customers in the region and help create exciting opportunities for business growth. We will build on this recognition to further reach out to a much range of audiences and allow more customers to enjoy the strategic benefits of Novell's award-winning IT solutions, particularly in key high-growth markets such as Saudi Arabia."

Novell has revealed that it has been aggressively expanding in key growth markets across the Middle East as part of its channel strategy in the region. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), in particular, represents an important market where Novell has already put in place a comprehensive Business Development Model to attract public and private sector organisations to its next-generation enterprise solutions. The KSA accounts for more than 55 per cent of Novell's target market in the Middle East, offering optimum growth opportunities for the company.

The list of Channel Champions award winners and the related study will be published in the April 25, 2011 issue of CRN magazine and online at www.crn.com.
