A rugged NEMA 12 notebook PC from CyberResearch® was designed - and tested - to survive a 3-foot free drop onto a concrete surface. An optional factory-installed expansion chassis provides space for two 3/4-size ISA or PCI boards.

The NBG 513 from CyberResearch, Inc. is a rugged NEMA 12 notebook PC built for tough real-world jobs. It meets MIL-spec standards for high and low temperature, rain, humidity, salt, fog, sand, dust, altitude, shock, vibration, and EMI. NBG 513 features an Intel® Mobile Pentium III® 850-MHz CPU and 128 MB of RAM, expandable to 512 MB. The included 20-GB hard drive can be upgraded to 40, 60, or 80 GB.

Two separate expansion bays are included on the NBG units. Bay 1 can be filled with optional CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD-ROM, DVD-RW, or an auxiliary removable 3.6 A-H Li-ion battery. Bay 2 can be filled with sealed PCMCIA slots, serial ports, a GPS module, an Ethernet module, or a second auxiliary battery. The main battery provides up to 2.5 hours of operation.

Rugged NBG notebooks include a built-in 13.3" LCD color display with adjustable brightness. The display supports XGA resolution with 64K colors.
