Worcester, MA U.S.A. – Norton | Saint-Gobain, the world's leading manufacturer and supplier of performance-engineered abrasives, has recently launched a product line expansion to provide a full portfolio of Norton Neon abrasive products for consistent performance at an excellent value.  The Norton Neon family of products features a proprietary grain technology and improved resin bond system for better grain adhesion, resulting in 3 times the life, cut rate and overall performance.  The Neon portfolio consists of fiber, flap and cloth quick-change discs, and file and narrow belts, which are ideal for a broad range of markets including metal fabrication; maintenance, repair and operations; primary metals; investment castings; foundry and woodworking. "Our Norton Neon Portfolio is a good choice for soft metals, hard-to grind stainless and carbon steel, and light-to moderately-demanding general purpose applications," said Patrick Carroll, Senior Product Manager, Norton | Saint-Gobain. "We are very pleased to provide our customers with a full range of versatile Neon solutions."

Norton Neon R766 Flap Discs have aluminum oxide blend flaps for a good-performing, general-purpose disc.  A new resin bond system and Y-wt. polyester flaps improve base adhesion for 30% or more longer life on light to moderately demanding applications versus other AO flap discs.  Also, a new grain coating extends disc life and accelerates the cut rate.  Most requirements for abrasives applications, ranging from roughing to blending, are fulfilled by a broad grit range from 36 to120 available on R766 Flap Discs.  Providing a high strength, light-weight fiberglass back to minimize vibration, the Neon Flap Discs are available in Type 29 conical and

Type 27 high density flat styles.  Type 27 also offers a flat, easily-trimmed plastic back that wears away while grinding, allowing full use of the flap and requiring less pressure for peak performance.

For aggressive cut and longer life than competitive AO discs, Norton Neon R766 Cloth Quick-Change Discs feature a premium abrasive and AO blend in a 24-80 grit range.  The new resin bond system improves grain adhesion and a durable Y-wt., 2-ply polyester backing performs well on moderately demanding applications.  The new grain coating provides longer life and a faster cut rate.  To minimize down time and maximize productivity, the Neon R766 Cloth Quick-Change Discs are available in three quick-change attachment systems - TS (Type II), TR (Type III) and TP (Type I).

Norton Neon R766 / R766X File and Narrow Belts have a premium abrasive and AO blend, offering  good performance and value for general purpose applications. The improved resin bond system and heavy duty backing improve edge retention for 30% or more longer life versus competitors.  The Neon belts are available in standard styles or can be custom made for specific requirements.  R766 belts feature an AO, and durable Y-wt., waterproof polyester backing, extending life on dry grinding and light- to moderately-demanding applications.  For most roughing to blending abrasive application requirements, R766X belts have an AO and flexible X-wt. polyester backing.

Aluminum Oxide (AO) resin fiber discs, Norton Neon F726, have a proprietary AO and grain blend and offer superior value.  An improved resin bond system and heavy-duty fiber backing provide enhanced grain adhesion in the Neon F726 line. The new fiber discs are available in grits 24 through 120, suitable for a number of metal fabrication applications.

Neon Fiber Discs are available in 5-per and 10-per package units, and Flap Discs and some sizes / grits of the Narrow Belts are available in 10-per-package units, making them adaptable for vending or low quantity orders to help minimize inventories, reduce consumption and increase productivity. Packaging is also convenient for carrying to the jobsite and for smaller jobs.
