Nordson® Corporation to Showcase Innovative Print Finishing and Bookbinding Adhesive Technology at 2007 Graph Expo

DULUTH, Ga., Aug. 28 / - Nordson Corporation (NASDAQ:NDSN), the world's leading producer of precision dispensing equipment, will participate in the 2007 Graph Expo. Nordson's booth 2029 will demonstrate the Innovation, Service and Choice theme with hot melt adhesive and cold glue application demos and displays focused on print finishing and bookbinding. The 2007 Graph Expo will be held in Chicago, Illinois, September 9-12, 2007.

High-quality, Efficient Bookbinding
Nordson will showcase spine and side gluing technologies that meet the large run requirements of commercial binders as well as provide flexibility for short runs of trade binders and digital printers. Glue application solutions can handle ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) and polyurethane (PUR) adhesives as well as cold glues.

An active display will feature a Horizon BQ-270 binder from Standard equipped with a Nordson EP48 VL PUR spine gluing system. The new EP48 VL slot gun is designed for incorporation into smaller binders typically used for short runs by trade binders and digital printers. EP48 VL slot guns integrate easily into binding machines and the servo automatic width adjustment ties directly into binders' automatic setup. A DuraPail(TM) bulk melter feeds the EP48 VL slot gun and completes the closed system, which helps minimize adhesive contamination and reduce maintenance.

A static display will demonstrate a Nordson side glue system. This particular side glue system will feature EP 11 slot guns on easy-adjust bracketry. While the EP 11 guns in this display show a contact application, this specially-designed bracketry provides flexibility in gun positioning to accommodate either contact or non-contact adhesive application.

Print Finishing Innovation For Improving Production
A Baum folder will demonstrate Nordson's in-plate spot gluing and tipping capabilities. This Nordson in-plate gluing solution will feature EM-900 electric guns fed by a ProBlue® melter and controlled by an LA 404-2 pattern control. This system will demonstrate the precise, repeatable adhesive dispensing that can be incorporated into the folding process.

A tipping application will feature a Longford card feeder mounted on-deck to affix a card to a direct mail piece. Nordson SureBead® pneumatic guns provide the accuracy and precision needed for tipping.

Static carts will show low-pressure and high-pressure systems for use in print finishing. These cart-mounted systems increase application flexibility by being moveable along or between lines and by being capable of use in conjunction with permanently mounted systems.

Choices To Meet Specific Needs
A gun display will feature a full range of Nordson hot melt adhesive and cold glue guns. With choices including contact or non-contact, and pneumatic or electric, Nordson application guns can accommodate a wide range of adhesives for virtually any application.

"Nordson systems are designed to help customers achieve a high-quality end product while making production processes more efficient and less costly," says Greg Earle, systems lifecycle manager PPC NAD.
