New Norton Abrasives Non-Woven Right Angle Discs for Stripping and Blending Provide Faster Cutting and Longer Life

WORCESTER, MA, USA - Saint-Gobain Abrasives - Norton, the world's largest abrasives brand and leader in metal fabrication abrasive products for over 125 years, today announced the introduction of a new non-woven depressed center stripping and light stock removal disc. Norton SG Blaze® Rapid Strip(TM) (http://www.nortonindustrial.com/NonWoven-Discs-BlazeRapidStrip.aspx) features the combination of Norton's proprietary SG ceramic alumina grain and an open, aggressive mesh structure that makes it the fastest cutting and longest-lasting stripping disc available.

SG Blaze Rapid Strip provides faster cutting, more than twice the life of competitive products. SG Blaze Rapid Strip features an open structure design which allows for aggressive cutting on metal surfaces as well as the elimination of loading on sticky coatings, adhesives and soft metals. In addition, it will not snag or shed when used to deburr edges.

Providing unparalleled versatility, Norton Blaze Rapid Strip can be used for stripping / light stock removal of scale, corrosion or rust on cast iron, steels, aluminum, fiberglass and composites. It can also be used for cleanup of flashings, epoxies and graffiti from all metal, stone and concrete surfaces. Applying heavier pressure will strip and clean materials while applying lighter pressure to the disc will provide a finish similar to a medium grit fiber or flap disc.

"Not only does the new SG Blaze Rapid Strip provide a totally new level of performance in the stripping disc category," commented Mr. David Long, Director of Marketing, Strategy and Marketing Information at Saint-Gobain Abrasives, "but it also improves safety and ergonomics for the operator."

Norton Blaze Rapid Strip discs are available in 4 ½", 5" and 7" inch sizes and feature a Type 27 / fiberglass backing. To learn more about the Norton Abrasives metal fabrication product line, visit http://www.nortonindustrial.com/metalfab/muscle.aspx.
