Non-Isolated SIP Converter Features High output Current with a Compact Footprint
CARLSBAD, Calif. - July 28, 2004 - Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE:EMR), has announced the release of Astec Power's newest 75 Watt, single inline package (SIP) footprint point-of-load (POL) DC/DC converters featuring efficiency as high as 92 percent.With input voltage ranging from 10V to 14V, the flexible new APA18 series can deliver 18 Amps (A) with adjustable output voltages from 0.75V to 5.5V. At only 2 inches by 0.5 inches by 0.4 inches (50.8mm x12.7mm x 9.98mm) with a choice of vertical or horizontal mounting pins, the devices are sized for use in applications with the most restrictive space requirements. Competitive pricing and compact size enable the new APA18 models to economically replace discrete designs while using less board space and minimizing the time-to-market for DSP and ASIC applications.
The APA18 devices incorporate a remote enable pin to allow for sequential activation as well as built-in overcurrent and overtemperature protection, with auto-recovery from any protective shutdown once a fault is removed. In addition, the new models feature a high current slew rate up to 1 Amp per microsecond while operating with low output ripple and noise. A wide operating temperature range of 40°C to +85°C and mean time between failures (MTBF) in excess of 1 million hours make the APA18 series suitable for use in extreme environments and for applications such as data and telecommunications. They are also well suited for instrumentation, internetworking devices such as hubs and routers, automatic test equipment and other applications where rapid time-to-market is a priority.
