18/16-Channel 16-Bit No Latency Delta-Sigma ADCs for Low Cost Multiplexed Applications

MILPITAS, CA - May 18, 2004 - Linear Technology Corporation introduces the LTC2439-1, an 8-channel, differential input, low cost 16-bit analog-to-digital converter with a proprietary No Latency Delta-Sigma(TM) architecture that allows single-cycle settling time. The digital filter always settles in one conversion cycle even after a change in multiplexer input channels. Transparent auto calibration ensures stable output codes independent of time, temperature, supply and channel selection. The LTC2439-1 is ideal for products such as temperature or pressure sensors, process control equipment, or other applications that demand precise measurement of several inputs.

The LTC2439-1 combines high accuracy with all around ease of use. A wide common mode input range greatly simplifies analog front-end circuitry. An accurate internal oscillator eliminates external crystals or clocks simplifying design and saving board space. The LTC2439-1 simultaneously rejects 50Hz and 60Hz line frequencies, allowing direct connection to most sensors. The reference voltage can range from 0.1V to Vcc, maintaining 16-bit performance and providing flexibility in ratiometric and remote sensing applications. All of these benefits reduce design time and get product to market faster.

The LTC2439-1 operates from a wide 2.7V to 5.5V supply range. It consumes just 200uA of supply current during conversion and 2uA during shutdown. Available in the 28-pin SSOP package in both commercial and industrial temperature ranges, the LTC2439-1 is pin-compatible with the 24-bit LTC2418.

Pricing for the LTC2439-1 begins at $3.75 each in 1,000-piece quantities.
