Varian, Inc. Launches Compact, High Performance Magnetic Resonance Spectrometer

TOKYO, Japan, Aug. 28 /-- Varian, Inc. (NASDAQ:VARI) today announced the introduction of its 400-MR magnetic resonance spectrometer. This high performance NMR system gives non- specialists access to state-of-the-art methods for molecular characterization and quantitation. The compact footprint of the 400-MR makes it easier to accommodate in small analytical laboratories in pharmaceutical, biotech, chemical and academic environments.

Through the latest release of Varian's MR workstation software, now with local language support capability, scientists can take advantage of a full suite of data processing and acquisition tools. Complex data acquisition sequences, used to gather detailed information about molecular structures or the composition of mixtures, are available at the push of a button. Varian's unique electronic architecture ensures reliable detection and quantification of minor components in mixtures, cell extracts for example, with minimal sample preparation.

"With the introduction of the 400-MR, Varian has made highly informative NMR analyses routine for chemists in many disciplines," said Martin O'Donoghue, Senior Vice President, Scientific Instruments, Varian, Inc. "We are expanding our product offerings to give a broader range of users easy access to high performance information rich detection solutions."

"Varian's strength in the field of research-oriented magnetic resonance products is well known," said Garry W. Rogerson, president and CEO, Varian, Inc. "The 400-MR adds breadth to our product range by making available the performance required to solve complex research problems in academic environments, to industry scientists who require easy, reliable analyses day in and day out."

The Varian 400-MR is available for immediate order and delivery in 60-90 days. For additional information please visit http://www.varianinc.com/cgi-bin/nav?products/nmr/spectromet/400mr
