NIR Field Spectroradiometer serves remote sensing applications.

Press Release Summary:

Ergonomically designed to facilitate in-field handling/use, PSR+ features optical path configured for improved resolution, SNR, and reliability. System cooling is maximized via one-piece anodized aluminum chassis and integral heat dispersion channels, while Sotex™ filter technology aids order sorting for optimized stray light performance and transition between detectors. Respectively, spectral resolutions include ≤3.0, ≤8.0, and ≤6.0 nm @ 700, 1,500, and 2,100 nm (FWHM).

The Shape of Things to Come in Remote Sensing

Introducing the PSR+, SPECTRAL EVOLUTION’s new line of compact field spectroradiometers.

Lawrence, MA – The SPECTRAL EVOLUTION PSR+ full range NIR field spectroradiometer features a new look, even smaller size, and enhanced performance for remote sensing applications.

The PSR+ has a new compact design that makes it sleeker for easier handling and use in the field. Re-engineered for improved cooling and long-term performance, the case is smaller and ergonomically designed with features that make it easier to handle, carry and operate. New textured grips and handles provide for comfortable single user operation.

Inside, the optical path has been re-configured for improved resolution, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and reliable operation. System cooling has been enhanced with a new one-piece anodized aluminum chassis with integral heat dispersion channels.  Our new, proprietary Sotex™ filter technology delivers improved order sorting for enhanced stray light performance and smoother transition between detectors.

Spectral resolution of our PSR+ 3500 model is enhanced for high resolution scans in applications such as vegetation studies, canopy research, climate and environmental research, species identification, soil studies, and more. Spectral resolution:

•Â ≤3.0nm @ 700nm (FWHM)

• ≤8.0nm @ 1500nm (FWHM)

• ≤6.0nm @ 2100nm (FWHM)

The PSR+ also offers improved electronic control circuitry for best-in-class signal-to-noise ratio (with 4° lens):

• ≤0.5 x 10-9 W/cm2/nm/sr@ 400nm

• ≤0.8 x 10-9 W/cm2/nm/sr@ 1500nm

• ≤1.0 x 10-9 W/cm2/nm/sr@ 2100nm

It also provides for easy field use with auto-shutter, auto-exposure, and auto-dark exposure for one-touch operation. With no moving optics and its improved optical path, it is designed for field reliability under a broad range of field conditions. Three photodiode arrays include a 512 element silicon detector and two 256 element TE-cooled extended wavelength array InGaAs detectors covering the 350-2500nm spectral range, all carefully selected and matched for optimum performance.

The PSR + can be combined with a wide range of accessories including a range of FOV options such as direct attaching 4°, 8°, or 14° lenses, 25° fiber optic, diffuser, or integrating sphere. Fiber mount options include 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, and 10° lenses. It can be used with a sample contact probe, leaf clip, or benchtop probe with sample compactor and can store 1,000 spectra on the instrument without a computer. Communications interfaces include USB and Class 1 Bluetooth. The DARWin Data Acquisition software makes operation easy including access to 19 vegetation indices. All data is saved as ASCII files for use with other programs, such as ENVI and chemometrics software. The PSR+ 3500 can be configured with EZ-ID sample identification software with the Custom Library Builder module for creating your own specific spectral library for real time sample identification.

We will be demonstrating the PSR+ at the AGU Fall Meeting on December 15-19 in San Francisco, Booth # 2447 and in London at GRSG, December 15-17, Booth# T4.
