New Nickel Electrode Resists Crevice Corrosion and Pitting

Fort Loramie, OH - Select-Arc, Inc. has introduced a gas-shielded, flux cored, nickel-based electrode that is specially designed to deliver excellent resistance to crevice corrosion and pitting.

SelectAlloy C276-AP was developed to weld nickel-chromium-molybdenum to itself or to other nickel-based alloys. This electrode, composed of 16% molybdenum, 15.5% chromium, 5.5% iron, 4% tungsten with a balance of nickel and with low carbon, is also used for surfacing steel and for joining nickel-based alloys to steel.

SelectAlloy C276-AP provides superb performance characteristics in all positions. Out-of-position deposition rates are significantly higher than those achieved with solid wires or covered electrodes. Flat, well washed beads are realized with minimal weaving. Spatter is very low with SelectAlloy C276-AP and slag peeling is exceptional, which minimizes cleanup.

Typical applications for SelectAlloy C276-AP include pipelines, pressure vessels, chemical processing plants, offshore oil and gas facilities and marine environments.

SelectAlloy C276-AP is available in .045"and 1/16" diameters.
