NexTech Materials Signs Global Agreement with Therm-O-Disc to Commercialize Next-Generation Hydrogen Sensors

Lewis Center, OH - September 29, 2010 - NexTech Materials, Ltd., a leader in the development and manufacturing of innovative products for energy and environmental markets, has signed an agreement to jointly develop, manufacture and market a new-technology hydrogen sensor worldwide with Therm-O-Disc, Inc. of Mansfield, Ohio, a subsidiary of Emerson and leading supplier of temperature sensors and controls.

A new chemi-resistive ceramic hydrogen sensor, recently introduced by NexTech, is highly sensitive, selective and exhibits rapid response to the presence of hydrogen in ambient air and rapid recovery when hydrogen is no longer present. The new sensor reliably measures hydrogen concentration levels over a wide range of temperature, humidity and flow rates. It is ideal for a range of transportation, commercial manufacturing, process controls, battery monitoring and hydrogen fuel cell applications.

The agreement between the two companies will leverage NexTech's patent pending hydrogen sensor technology with the manufacturing, packaging technology and market access of Therm-O-Disc and its parent company Emerson. As a result, both companies will be able to greatly expand their technological reach in wide ranging markets by offering next generation hydrogen sensors that are cost effective for a variety of applications.

"We are very pleased to be working with the team at Therm-O-Disc, who are world leaders in temperature sensors in many industries that are targeted for hydrogen sensors," said William Dawson, CEO, NexTech Materials, Ltd. "This announcement provides further evidence of the growing sensor technology and infrastructure in the State of Ohio, providing cutting edge technology on the world stage."

"Leveraging Therm-O-Disc's design and manufacturing competencies with NexTech's advanced hydrogen sensor technologies gives us a tremendous strategic advantage in serving our customers," said John Rhodes, President, Therm-O-Disc. "Emerson's broad marketing reach for this new sensor technology allows for expansion into new markets that greatly benefits both companies."
