Nexidia Powers Avid ScriptSync Technology for Automated Script-Based Editing Workflows

LAS VEGAS, April 24 -- At the 2006 National Association of Broadcasters show, Nexidia, the leading provider of audio and rich media search, and speech analytics solutions, today announced that it is providing advanced phonetic speech and pattern recognition technology to power Avid(R) ScriptSync(TM), a next-generation script-based editing technology for Avid editing systems, used by professional digital content creators in the television and feature film industry.

Avid ScriptSync advances and simplifies script-based editing by automating the process of synchronizing scripts or transcripts with their equivalent media files. This capability will enable editors, directors and producers to save significant time by streamlining review and comparison of clips and takes for the final edit.

"Using Nexidia's phonetic synching capability, Avid customers will now have a more automated way to streamline their editing process," said John Willcutts, president and CEO of Nexidia. "Nexidia's unique phonetic index and transcript synching will provide their customers with a superior editing experience and efficient workflow. Customers will have an easy, fast, and accurate way to search and retrieve targeted content during production. In working with Avid, we are extending our technology to deliver significant advantages to the video and film editing industries."

"We expect Nexidia's technology to play a tremendous role in helping to advance Avid's existing script-based editing technology to make it more intuitive and effective for the script-to-dailies process," commented Matt Allard, senior product manager at Avid. "Due to the simplicity of its design and the power of the underlying phonetic technology, Avid ScriptSync will enable other decision makers, such as directors and producers, to play a larger role in the editing process. With this enhanced script-based editing capability, we are making the creative editorial process more powerful and flexible than ever."

Avid ScriptSync is planned to be available for the Avid Media Composer(R) (Mac and PC versions), the Avid NewsCutter(R) and the Avid Symphony(TM) Nitris(R) editing systems in future releases.
