New Primestream Newspod by ASG Delivers Turnkey Integrated News Production Solution

EMERYVILLE, CALIF., – Advanced Systems Group (ASG), a leading video, data, audio and film integration firm, today introduced Primestream NewsPod by ASG, a turnkey integrated HD production and automation package for small and medium-sized newsrooms. Built around Primestream’s FORK Production Suite, the end-to-end solution includes all the hardware and software required to ingest, edit, playout and distribute news content. Primestream will demonstrate its FORK Production Suite at the 2014 NAB Show (Booth SL10216), which runs April 7-10 in Las Vegas, Nev.

FORK Production Suite provides a powerful media asset management and automation platform. It includes live, tape, and file-based ingest, integrated transcoding with MXF and .MOV wrapper support, descriptive metadata logging and multi-field search, real-time proxy generation, proxy editing that shares projects with Adobe® Premiere® Pro (CS6 and Creative Cloud), Avid® Media Composer®, and Apple® Final Cut® Pro X, and export tools for exchanging media and metadata with external systems and Web publishing. With Xchange Suite, users are able to access the content on their FORK Production Server from anywhere.

The NewsPod also includes Quantum StorNext, one of the most widely deployed content management systems in the media and entertainment (M&E) industry, and a NetApp E2712 48 TB storage system, which provides modular high-bandwidth SAN storage with enterprise reliability and expansion up to 768 TB. All components of the system are collected and integrated in a single equipment rack. One NewsPod system supports up to 20 users and can integrate with a variety of newsroom control systems (NRCS), including ENPS, iNews, Octopus and more.

“There is a need in our industry, particularly in small market stations, for reliable plug-and-play newsroom systems that are easy to deploy and inexpensive to implement,” explained Dave Van Hoy, president, ASG. “Our NewsPod delivers a cost effective solution with proven software and hardware components for world-class results. Plus, it offers the flexibility to work with a number of newsroom control systems and most major NLE systems.”

“The NewsPod is a perfect example of the power and scalability of the FORK Production Suite,” said Claudio Lisman, Primestream president and CEO. “News operations can reduce the time it takes to turn content around and, with the time they save, create better stories — interactively, collaboratively and without sacrificing quality.”

The Primestream NewsPod by ASG, including localized versions, will be available in June.
