New WinMax Control Software Tops Hurco New Product List

INDIANAPOLIS-Hurco Companies, Inc., will introduce five new products at IMTS 2006 (Booth #8117). Although Hurco developed all of these products to maximize productivity for its customers, the development of WinMax Control Software is by far the most significant product announcement Hurco will make at IMTS in September. Other product introductions include the Hurco Lathe with Live Tooling (TMM8), the new swivel head 5-Axis machine (VMX42SR), the addition of the VMX60 vertical machining center, and an upgraded performance series for the VMX line.

WinMax Control Software, with a new Windows® based interface, is significant because it was specifically designed to slash setup time and improve surface finish. The new WinMax Control Software has numerous new, patented features and will be standard on all Hurco vertical and turning machines.

Power packed with more than 25 new and innovative software features, the addition of WinMax Control Software to Hurco's world-renowned control will maximize efficiency and productivity at job shops around the world.

The Hurco WinMax development team has been targeted and focused from the start. In order to create a platform with worthwhile benefits to machinists, software engineers made sure each feature they created saved time, increased usability of existing features, or improved surface finish.

A few examples include Swept Surface, NC/Conversational Merge, Select Surface Finish Quality, and Advanced Verification Graphics with Solid 3-D Rendering. Swept Surface benefits moldmakers in particular because it offers a simplified approach to programming and machining complex 3-D parts and produces a smoother surface finish.

NC/Conversational Merge enables popular conversational features, such as tool and part probing, to be applied to existing G-code programs. With Select Surface Finish Quality, the machinist controls the part quality and run time by adjusting an on-screen slider bar. This feature automatically adjusts program throughput to meet the surface finish quality requirements.

Additionally, Hurco WinMax Control Software includes an upgrade to the flat panel screens on the machines with dual-screen controls. With the release of WinMax, both screens will support touch-screen navigation.

WinMax Control Software demonstrations will be held throughout IMTS at the Hurco booth (# 8117).

The popularity of Hurco CNC slant-bed lathes (the TM series) prompted development of the 8" Hurco CNC Slant-Bed Lathe with Live Tooling. This integrated mill-turn machine is perfect for parts that require turning with minor milling operations. The other key product introductions revolve around Hurco's popular VMX series of vertical machining centers. The VMX42SR, Hurco's newest 5-Axis Vertical Machining center, has a swivel head with a horizontal rotary table. Due to increasing customer requests, Hurco is adding the VMX60 to its VMX series-60 inches of travel in a condensed package. Hurco will launch a new performance series VMX line including a standard 12,000 rpm spindle, 1,378 ipm rapid traverse, an extended warranty, and the new WinMax control.

All of these products and more will be displayed at the Hurco IMTS Booth (#8117) with demonstrations available continually.
