Original Press Release:

The Museum World Meets The WideTEK® 36ART in The Cultural City of Cologne, Germany

Wuppertal, Germany - November 12, 2019

Image Access will participate for the second time in the EXPONATEC COLOGNE Exhibition at booth C060 in hall 3.2 in Cologne, Germany. Visitors will be able to experience the fine art scanner WideTEK 36ART, developed specifically for the digitization of large format works of art, from November 20-22, 2019 at the Cologne Fair grounds.

With this scanner, each museum is able to digitally archive its own art collection in the highest quality, to publish in print and online media, or to offer works of art for sale as a print. Together with electronic presentation platforms, the museums have many opportunities to present works of art to the public, even if space limitations prohibit them from being displayed in the exhibition rooms. Whereas the professional digitization of paintings and antique works has been very time-consuming in the past, the WideTEK 36ART now enables easy, fast and cost-effective digitization.

Originals are scanned at up to 600 x 600 dpi optical resolution. The artwork moves fully automatically under the CCD scan lines without the surface coming into contact with the scanner. This means that paintings can be digitized even if they are not completely dry. In addition to contact free and very gentle digitization, the unique 3D scanning mode can be used to emphasize surface structures, so that a realistic reproduction of textures and structures of the work of art is possible.

With the backlight option, it is possible to use particularly transparent material, such as stained glass, glass negatives, cutout templates or sepias. Even transparent fabrics and flat objects can be digitized and stored with minimal postprocessing. The preinstalled backlight module allows the user to scan with or without backlight as needed, simply by turning the light on or off. With the optional scan extension, works of art up to a maximum length of 2224 mm to be digitized. In conjunction with large format printers, the art scanner forms the perfect basis for professional art reproduction with the highest color accuracy.

The combination of trade show and congress makes the bi-annual EXPONATEC COLOGNE the perfect venue for exhibitors and visitors. A highlight in the event program of the EXPONATEC COLOGNE is the congress „Stations of Art. Behind the museum scenes” with a high-caliber lecture program. The three-part series of talks and discussions is organized jointly by the Deutscher Museumsbund (DMB), the Restoration Association (VDR) and the Network of European Museum Organizations (NEMO) and takes place in the Europasaal in the Congress Center East.

In the second expert roundtable discussion „An idea becomes tangible” on Thursday, November 21, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., restorationists will discuss the preservation of cultural assets. Rüdiger Klepsch, Chief Operating Officer of Image Access GmbH, will describe the possibilities of the art scanner WideTEK 36ART on this topic. Following his presentation „The Art of Art Scanning” at 12:20 pm, there will be an opportunity to ask questions and exchange ideas.

Do you need a ticket for entry? We would be happy to provide you one free of charge! Send us a brief eMail with the subject „Tickets for Exponatec 2019”. We look forward to meeting you at Exponatec Cologne!
