Original Press Release:

Continental Control Systems Announces The Release of The New WattNode Wide-Range Modbus Meter, Suitable for Any Utility Service - 100 to 600 Vac

Designed for ease of installation and trouble shooting, the newest Modbus meter offered by CCS offers remote CT and phase wiring correction and supports all word-wide utility services from 100 to 600 Vac. This unique energy meter provides unprecedented energy and power measurement features, options and capabilities along with Modbus RTU-RS-485 communication.

Longmont, Colo. (PRWeb) April 11, 2019 -- Continental Control Systems introduces the new WattNode Wide-Range Modbus meter with several new innovative features that simplify installation and reduce hardware costs. New features include a single meter model for services from 100 to 600 Vac, remote correction of the current transformer (CT) polarity and phase, ANSI C12.20 class 0.5 accuracy, a 100-millisecond update rate, and the ability to detect disconnected CTs.

Customers can reduce truck rolls and models to stock with the WattNode Wide-Range. The versatile power supply replaces seven models with one model. The new model operates from 85 Vac to 690 Vac on wye, delta, single-phase, and three-phase services. A true universal power supply.

New settings will reduce installation time and hardware costs. Two CTs can be used instead of three CTs for delta circuits, and one CT can be used instead of two CTs for two-wire single-phase circuits. If CT wiring is incorrect, it can be fixed in software remotely after installation. A CT with wiring that is backward can have polarity corrected. A CT that is on the wrong phase can be changed virtually to the correct phase. These settings use the WattNode’s new ability to associate any of its CT inputs with any of its voltage inputs.

In response to customer demand the WattNode’s FAST POWER feature measures and reports power, voltage, frequency, and current every 100 milliseconds for power export limiting and control applications. To support new tamper requirements, the WattNode can detect if a CT is disconnected. The WattNode supports potential transformers (PT) for services up to 36 kV and scales measurements based on the PT ratio.

The WattNode Wide-Range Modbus uses the Modbus RTU protocol over RS-485 at up to 115,200 baud. It supports millivolt (0.333 Vac) output CTs, flexible Rogowski coils, and has optional support for milliamp output CTs. It is available in UL 508A NEMA 4 steel or polycarbonate enclosures with optional fuses or circuit breakers.

Founded in 1995, Colorado-based Continental Control Systems specializes in electric power metering and monitoring equipment for the measurement of energy and power production and consumption. The company’s solutions are designed to provide information on electrical systems in a variety of communication protocols including Modbus, BACnet, LonWorks, and kWh pulse. Applications for WattNode® meters include building automation, energy management, tenant sub-metering, performance verification/evaluation/diagnostics, and LEED certification.
