DVUV, LLC Announces UVMax® Defender – Antimicrobial Protection for its Line of UV Cured Powder Coatings

Cleveland, OH USA – January 26, 2021 – DVUV, LLC is pleased to announce its newest product offering UVMax® Defender. UVMax® Defender provides added antimicrobial protection for DVUV’s entire line of UV cured powder coatings for MDF, Medium Density Fiberboard.

The antimicrobial agent utilizes silver ion technology that attaches to the cell walls of a microbe, interrupting enzyme production and DNA replication. Results from independent third-party testing using ISO 22196 standards confirmed after 24 hours surfaces coated with UVMax® Defender showed E coli and Staphylococcus bacterial reproduction reduced by more than 99.99%.

UVMax® Defender is ideal for healthcare, hospitality, retail, education, consumer goods, and other applications where harmful bacteria can be prevalent. The coating offers 24/7, lifetime antimicrobial protection, and repeated cleanings do not diminish or degrade the efficacy of the coating.

Keyland Polymer, DVUV’s sister company and powder supplier recently released a Cleaning Methods Evaluation Report demonstrating the robustness of a UV cured powder coated surface when cleaned using common household or commercial liquid cleaning products. This test is a modification of the NEMA LD 3-2000 method 3.4 Cleanability / Stain Resistance, 3.4.5. The test results verified that the use of the cited cleaning products causes no observable or measurable change in surface properties, color transfer, pencil hardness, film build, or gloss loss.

“The current state of our world has changed due to COVID-19. Products need to be safer and more robust. Antimicrobial agents are a desired safety feature, and are in great demand, but cleaning is still essential to ensure personal health and safety. We wanted to make certain our UV cured powder coatings are safe, can withstand more frequent cleaning, and give our customers the performance they expect and need.” states Rebecca Lonczak, Marketing Manager for DVUV, LLC.
