Series 3623AXT: Submersible, Case Isolated, IEPE Triaxial Accelerometer with TEDS
June 17, 2019 – Chatsworth, California, USA – Dytran Instruments, Inc. (www.dytran.com) a leading manufacturer of piezoelectric and MEMS sensors for extreme environments, announces the release of Series 3623AXT submersible, case isolated, IEPE triaxial accelerometers designed for use in underwater applications.
The rugged 3623AXT series is suitable for vibration testing in wet or humid applications, such as submersible vehicle testing, automotive road load, outdoor test tracks, levees & dams, shipboard installations, offshore wind turbines, boat, and marine engine systems. The series meets IP68 rating (submersible to 175psi) that combines a hermetically sealed titanium case and a non-removable, water blocked molded cable to prevent water ingress to a depth of approximately 361 ft [110 m].
Models are available in three sensitivities (10mV/g, 50 mV/g and 100mV/g) and are easily installed using a 10-32 mounting stud. Each sensor contains three piezoceramic planar shear sensing elements that are suspended inside the housing with a set of supports designed to stop high frequency propagation into the element structure. The sensing elements are isolated from case ground and are enclosed by a Faraday shield for better noise immunity.
Weighing only 18 grams, these small sensors can be used in situations where vertical space is limited. Units are TEDS enabled and are fully compatible with IEPE constant current type power units. The heavy duty polyurethane integral cable terminates to flying leads and is available in various lengths for extended cable runs.
Models 3623A1T-A3T have a cable bend radius of 3 inches and are ideal for extended cable runs for applications deep under water that require rugged cabling. Additional versions, models 3623A4T-A7T, are already in development. These models will have a bend radius of 2 inches and are designed for routing cable in tight spaces.
